Scripture Union aims:
To make God’s Good News known to children, young people and families and to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer so that they may:
- come to personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ,
- grow in Christian maturity and
- become both committed church members and servants of a world in need.
Today you will find Scripture Union Northern Ireland (SUNI) in inner city housing estates and rural towns, on the beaches, in church halls, taking up residence under canvas and in residential centres. You will find us working up and down the country in primary and post-primary schools. You will find us resourcing the Church’s Children and Youth programmes and helping all ages to engage with God’s word on a daily basis.
From Millisle to Enniskillen, Derry to Donegal, East Belfast to Dungannon, Scripture Union is an organisation, or maybe more accurately, a movement of people determined to let people of all ages know the light to live by. An organisation determined to help people encounter God.
SUNI has been built on the hard labour of many many people, both young and old. Many have given time, resources, prayers and willingness to help the children and young people across our country meet God. It is very much a staff and volunteer combination. This is not a staff-driven organisation but one that is made up of the hundreds and hundreds of individuals who give time under the banner of SUNI.
We currently run 3 major projects, Schools Work, Camps & Missions and Resource Centre & Bookshop – with the key threads of Bible, mission and volunteer development running across all our work.
