The main focus of our work in post primary schools is on supporting those who run Scripture Union groups there. These are voluntary groups that meet at lunchtime or after school to help children explore and live out the Christian faith.
We also have staff members, volunteers and resources to help with RE and assemblies.
Scripture Union staff members are available to take assemblies in post primary schools. To find out if there is someone available to take assemblies in your area, please email Phil by clicking here or telephone 028 90454806.
Responsible for assemblies in school? Check out our Assembly Year Outline, with seasonal monthly ideas providing a Bible passage, title, theme, possible intro,video/illustration and a summary sentence.
In our country it is still part of the curriculum to teach the Bible. We have tried and tested quality material in line with the current curriculum that will be interactive, educational and fun.
For KS3 level we have:
Life of Jesus Lessons; these are a set of 3 lessons teaching on Jesus and his relationships (the Woman at the well), Jesus caring for other people (Lazarus) along with Jesus and his teaching (The Prodigal).
‘What the Bible says about…’; is our series looking at Identity, Relationships and Sex from a Biblical perspective and into what Christians believe. With the ever increasing issue of Pornography affecting the life of young people we offer a fourth optional lesson that builds on the three previous lessons and speaks on ‘What the Bible says about Porn’
For KS4 level we have:
Forgiveness; this is another 3 week series looking at the life of Jesus but thinking about the way he taught about forgiveness, he showed forgiveness and how he proves forgiveness is possible.
We would love to come in and share on these topics perhaps on a day when we are due to come in with your SU group.
Supporting SU groups
SU groups meet in over 100 post primary schools right across Northern Ireland. We are excited by the potential of these groups, and inspired by stories of what God is doing in and through them.
An SU group is a voluntary group, which meets regularly within the school and is designed to help pupils explore the Bible and live out the Christian faith. The leaders are approved both by the school principal and by Scripture Union.
Our vision is to give pupils the opportunity to meet and be transformed by Jesus through the establishment of a community that is Bible-based, discipleship-oriented and mission-focused in every school in Northern Ireland.
Each group is free to develop a programme relevant and appropriate for its own circumstances and for the children who attend.
