Shannon’s November Highlight

Hey, my name is Shannon Smillie and I am the Media Intern at SUNI.

I’ve really been enjoying getting stuck into all things media. I’ve loved making highlights videos to showcase the impact that SU is having on young people in Northern Ireland and recording and editing the podcast which aims to equip the local church. Words can’t comprehend how amazing it is to be able to make things with such an important purpose to me.

Funnily enough, my highlight of November isn’t anything to do with media! The great thing about this internship is that it’s not limited. The staff at SU recognise that my love for Jesus and eagerness to learn shouldn’t be put aside to focus all my time on media.

This month I got to go to NIMA (Northern Ireland Ministry Assembly), which is a conference that helps preachers to teach the bible. I found NIMA very engaging and enjoyed delving deeper into Luke’s Gospel and 1 to 1 bible engagement with the brilliant speakers – William Taylor and David Helm. It was great to connect with Ministers and church workers and see how this conference was helping them in their ministry. I’ve taken so many ideas from NIMA, that I can go on to use when teaching the Bible in my GB scripture class.
