SUNI New General Director

Scripture Union Northern Ireland is delighted to announce the appointment of Damian Wharton as the new General Director.

Damian has been involved in Christian ministry for over 20 years.  After completing 3 years of youth work training with British Youth for Christ, he joined their national staff where he fulfilled a number of roles, including leading a creative arts team and overseeing their gap year programme.  He went on to join the national leadership team as Director of Mission.

Damian has also been a youth pastor for a church in Worcester and worked for Spring Harvest leading their youth and student ministry.

He is a passionate communicator and has spoken at many national events including Manifest, Soul Survivor, Summer Madness and Youthwork the Conference as well as many local churches around the UK.

Married to Andrea, with 3 wonderful children, Damian and his family moved to Northern Ireland 4 years ago where he became the pastor of City Church Belfast.  For the past few years Damian has been a member of the SUNI Council.

Damian commented, “I’m extremely excited about taking on the role of General Director and I’m looking forward to working alongside a strong and committed staff team, and hundreds and hundreds of incredible servant-hearted volunteers, as together we seek to fulfil our vision of making God’s Good News known to every child and young person across Northern Ireland.”

Damian will start with SUNI in early August, and we look forward under God’s guidance to him leading the movement on.
