It could only have been God who put it on my heart to apply for It’s Your Move in the summer of 2012. I didn’t know anyone else going and I was so shy that the thought of spending a week with strangers terrified me. When I pulled up at the front of Castlewellan Castle on the first day, my heart was in my mouth. I was pointed in the direction of a sea of people my age who later became good friends, many of whom I’m still close with. I almost turned around to go home in those first steps, but I remembered what it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This was a recurring thought in my head through the training at Castlewellan and the mission in Millburn as I went out of my comfort zone and was encouraged to try new things. My time at Castlewellan allowed me to get rid of my insecurities and taught me that I had gifts and talents to bring to the team of people I was working with. God was already revealing to me why He had placed me on this camp, with so much more for me to discover! Those couple of days of mission, after we left Castlewellan, were unforgettable – we all saw God move in such MASSIVE ways. As a team, through prayer, we saw such a transformation in the children who came to the mission as their openness to hear about God increased. I’ll never forget the day when several of the kids and teenagers gave their lives to God – there were so many tears and so much joy! The mission taught me to have total trust in God and not to limit Him – ever. The words of Ephesians 3:20 have stayed with me after my time at It’s Your Move, reminding me that God can do “immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.” My time on It’s Your Move encouraged me to go on to play an active role in my CU in school, as well as getting involved in SU’s Making Your Mark weekend and being a part of the SU youth council this year. God transformed me through this camp and helped me to take an important step in the direction of becoming the person He wants me to be.
